THE CHALLENGE

In the beginning of 2016, Mitħna was taken over by new management who requested a rebranding exercise to help modernise the brand whilst keeping in touch with the historical element that represents the restaurant; the windmill.

THE SOLUTION

Mitħna is located within a windmill built in the 16th century by the Knights of St. John during their stay on the island. Its aim was to provide the community with one of the world’s most important ingredients during that time – flour. It was vital to keep the historical element that represents the restaurant as prominent as possible within the new brand whilst giving it a clean and modern feeling. This is why the blades of the windmill were picked to represent the brand, depicted in clean and sharp lines. The colour grey was chosen to portray the new Mitħna brand in order to give an old and historic feeling to the place, which is also extended to the use of black and white photography in printed materials.
